Degrees were conferred upon more than 320 undergraduates and more than 100 graduate students under a tent on Westlands Lawn. Alumni from the classes of 2021 and 2020 were invited to return to campus to finally take that meaningful walk across Westlands Terrace—a high point of every graduation.

After 44 years as a member of the Art History faculty at Sarah Lawrence, the dominant emotion Joe Forte feels is gratitude. He reflects, “Sarah Lawrence made me. I’ve evolved over my time here, and it has made me a better person. Priscilla Murolo ’80 has had a kaleidoscopic understanding of what it is to be a member of the Sarah Lawrence College community. She is a 1980 graduate of the College; she has been a member of the history faculty since 1988, specializing in labor history; she helmed the Graduate Program in Women’s History for nearly two decades; and she is the proud parent of two Sarah Lawrence College graduates.

Kathy Yeu P’15, a professional coach and personal branding expert, typically works with top executives and creatives to help them define themselves and their products. Recently she also has been helping her daughter, Michelle Nigro ’15, and her friends navigate the tricky straits of their nascent careers, and as a Sarah Lawrence College parent and donor, it occurred to her that there likely were SLC students who could also benefit from her skills.

Life on the Sarah Lawrence campus in fall 2020 was unlike anything in the College’s history: nearly all classes convened online, students were asked to socialize in pods, on-campus events required capacity limitations, and face masks provided a new way to make a fashion statement. And of course, regular nasal swabs to test for COVID-19 are hard-to-forget hallmarks of the semester.
