On Thursday, September 25, Sarah Lawrence celebrated new faculty chair appointments and this year’s recipient of the Lipkin Family Prize for Inspirational Teaching.
This year, Marty Goldray (Music) was honored with the Lipkin Prize. This annual award recognizes a professor — selected by the president with input from faculty — whose generosity of time and talent draws from students both high performance and a lifelong love of learning.
Faculty chairs “embody the totality of what it means to be a member of the academy," said Provost and Dean of Faculty Kanwal Singh. "We honor our colleagues for their work in the classroom, in their scholarly and artistic lives, and in their institutional work — for all the ways in which they make Sarah Lawrence a thrilling place at which to teach and to learn."
This year’s new faculty chairs, as selected by the Advisory Committee on Appointments, are:
Ron Azfal (Religion)
Margaret Shepherd Professorship
