The Sarah Lawrence community mourns the loss of Robert “Bob” Riggs, former Chair of the Board of Trustees, who passed away on March 16, 2026, at the age of 92.
Along with his wife, Wendy, Bob was a longtime friend and supporter of the College and a great champion of its students. A member of the Board of Trustees for many years, Bob served as chair from 2004-2008, after which he was named an Honorary Trustee. Throughout his service, he brought thoughtful leadership, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to the College’s mission.
A lifelong resident of Bronxville, Bob devoted himself not only to Sarah Lawrence but also to the broader community he so proudly called home. He volunteered as Village Legal Counsel and served as a Village trustee, co-chaired Bronxville’s Centennial celebration in 1998, and co-founded the Bronxville Historical Conservancy that same year.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Wendy, their daughters Jennifer and Sarah, and all who knew him.
