Poet, visual artist, and novelist Rachel Eliza Griffiths MFA ‘06 adds memoirist to her list of credits with this month’s release of The Flower Bearers. The memoir, reviewed in The New York Times on January 20, chronicles her deep friendship with the late poet Kamilah Aisha Moon MFA ‘06, which was established when they met as students in Sarah Lawrence's MFA Writing program. The Flower Bearers, which Griffiths discusses in an interview with The Rumpus, also weaves in the story of her relationship with her husband, novelist Salman Rushdie. In addition to being an alumna, Griffiths also taught poetry and memoir writing at SLC.
