Lauren Berman ’96

Lauren Berman creates vibrant, hand-cut paper collages that tap into the sensations and memories of childhood. Her work is shaped by both her years teaching young children and her time as an associate archivist at The Jim Henson Company, where she catalogued the original sketches and collages of Jim Henson—an experience that continues to influence her playful, process-driven approach. Berman’s art centers on hand-cut paper silhouettes depicting children engaged in everyday activities. Set against minimal backgrounds, these compositions invite stillness and reflection while recalling the visual language of family photographs.
