Office of Residential Life
The Office of Residential Life focuses on building and stewarding a positive living and learning experience for students. The work of Residential Life involves developing and implementing a Residential Education curriculum, leading a team of undergraduate resident advisers as they work to enhance the well-being of their communities, managing housing-related operations including the annual housing process, and overseeing the student conduct process. The Residential Life professional staff consists of the assistant director of residential education, the assistant director of housing operations, the assistant director of community standards, and four resident fellows. They work together to accomplish the mission of Residential Life primarily through their partnership with the Office of Student Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging; Student Involvement and Leadership; International Student Support and Belonging; and Spiritual Life.
Resident Advisers
Thirty-three undergraduate students serve as Resident Advisers (RAs), vital members of the Residential Life team who are charged with engendering positive, respectful, and sustainable communities that demonstrably promote students’ learning, personal growth, and belonging. RAs endeavor to directly support their peers and enhance their campus experience. RAs are expected to build community through intentional programming, one-on-one encounters with residents, and other engagement and interventions. RAs are expected to safeguard the campus community by understanding, articulating, and enforcing community standards and other housing and College policies. Communication is established at the beginning of the year between the RAs and their individual residents.
