The Joan H. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College invites you to join us for our summer webinar series to learn more about the field of genetic counseling! With employment for genetic counselors projected to grow 21% from 2019 to 2029, now is the perfect time to learn more about this exciting profession.
Join us for these Wednesday sessions to learn about a different aspect of the profession and how to apply to genetic counseling programs. You will have the opportunity to hear from genetic counselors working in the field, as well as current students and alumni. Through this series you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet genetic counselors with varying specialties, experiences, and perspectives
- Become familiar with the knowledge and skills genetic counselors use in their practice and the array of jobs for which a degree in genetic counseling can prepare you
- Learn about the present state and projected future of the profession
- Discuss ethical and social implications of genomic medicine
- Engage with practicing genetic counselors and genetic counseling students
- Explore multiple sub-specialties within the field through small group discussion
- Gain an understanding of opportunities available to graduates with a Master of Science in Human Genetics
You can attend as few or as many sessions as you want, and everyone is welcome regardless of educational or career background. Attendance at all five sessions will earn you a Certificate of Completion and an application fee waiver if you decide to apply to Sarah Lawrence's genetic counseling program in the fall.
June 18: Prenatal/Reproductive Genetic Counseling
