The Community Leadership Intern Program provides rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors an inside look at a community-based organization in Yonkers while assisting with the agency’s day-to-day operations.
Those selected for the program will work 30 hours per week for 10 weeks during the summer. They receive a living stipend, bus passes for transportation to community sites, and on-campus housing. A weekly leadership seminar features guest speakers from the Sarah Lawrence College faculty and staff, along with key community members. Topics include theories about child development, community development strategies, and public/private approaches to community work.

Participating in various programs gave me invaluable knowledge about different people and cultures. As a recent alum of Sarah Lawrence who is now training to become a teacher, I am very grateful for both the personal and professional growth I experienced because of the many opportunities the office gave me access to.
