Community Partnerships and Engagement

Community Leadership Intern Program

The Community Leadership Intern Program provides rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors an inside look at a community-based organization in Yonkers while assisting with the agency’s day-to-day operations.

Those selected for the program will work 30 hours per week for 10 weeks during the summer. They receive a living stipend, bus passes for transportation to community sites, and on-campus housing. A weekly leadership seminar features guest speakers from the Sarah Lawrence College faculty and staff, along with key community members. Topics include theories about child development, community development strategies, and public/private approaches to community work.

Get Involved

Current students can learn more about the program, access application documents, and review timelines by logging in to MySLC.

I discovered so much about myself, including my love for teaching and working with kids, because of my involvement with the Office of Community Partnerships! Participating in various programs gave me invaluable knowledge about different people and cultures. As a recent alum of Sarah Lawrence who is now training to become a teacher, I am very grateful for both the personal and professional growth I experienced because of the many opportunities the office gave me access to.
