Is there a minimum length stay?
Yes, residents must sign up to stay for a minimum of three weeks for summer housing.
Can I stay longer than three weeks? Do they have to be consecutive?
Yes, residents may stay longer than three weeks during our Summer Intern Housing period. The three weeks must be consecutive.
Do I have to move-out at a specific time? What if I need to stay longer?
Residents must move out on the last Saturday of their booked stay; that date will be proivded at the time of booking.
The final day that all residents within the program must move out is August 9. We cannot offer any extensions or allow any resident to stay beyond August 9.
Will I have a roommate?
You will have apartment-mates! Since Rothschild is a suite-style residence hall, residents will be housed in a private bedroom within a shared apartment that can accommodate 3-4 other residents. All residents will share the bathroom, kitchen, and common spaces of the apartment.
What is provided in the Rothschild apartments?
Residents will have access to a bed, desk, desk chair, dresser and closet. The common space and kitchen in each apartment typically includes seating (couch or chairs) and will be equipped with a stove, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher and sink as well as storage space. Residents must bring their own kitchen items and linens.
Are laundry services available?
Residents may do their laundry by using their provided ID card to access the laundry room located in Garrison B, which is connected to Rothschild (see map provided in confirmation email). Residents will be provided with laundry funding to cover up to two loads per week.
Is wifi on campus free?
Yes! Residents may access Sarah Lawrence's free wifi by connecting to SLCWLAN anywhere on campus.
Where can I purchase food?
Rothschild is located within walking distance of the Cross County Shopping Center, which features a Stop and Shop grocery store, a Target, and numerous dining options.
Can I bring my car or bike to campus?
Residents are permitted to bring vehicles and/or bicycles to campus for the duration of their stay. Vehicles and bicycles must be registered with Campus Operations. Parking for vehicles is available at an additional cost of $30 per week. No e-bikes are permitted on campus or in Hill House.
How do I access my apartment/room?
Summer residents who are Sarah Lawrence students will use their college ID cards as normal; the IDs will be activated for the summer and will provide access to the various approved spaces on campus.
Summer residents who are not Sarah Lawrence students will be given a guest Sarah Lawrence ID card to access the Hill House front and rear entrances as well as the various locations within the building (i.e., lounges and laundry room).
All summer residents will also be provided with a key that will grant access to their apartment and room.
I'm an SLC student; can I move into my fall semester housing assignment for summer housing?
No, students are not permitted to move into their intended fall housing assignment and are not permitted to store any items at the College between the end of Summer Intern Housing and the start of the fall semester.
Is there an application fee?
There is no application fee, but students are required to submit 50% of their total summer housing bill at the time of applying as a non-refundable deposit.
What if I need to cancel my housing?
All residents will be required to submit 50% of their total summer housing bill at the time of signing up. This is a non-refundable deposit to secure your assignment.
Residents must inform our points of contact if a cancellation is desired. Please note, the non-refundable deposit will not be returned if cancellation is approved.
