8:00am-4:00pm | Move-in
Please arrive during your designated move-in window (an email will be sent directly to each student’s gryphon mail in early August detailing move-in windows and logistical information. When you arrive on campus, proceed to the Campbell Sports Center for check-in. Campbell Sports Center and throughout campus
11:00am-12:00pm | Marking the Moment: President’s Welcome to Families (for parents and families)
This session offers a warm welcome to the families of our incoming first-year students. Join President Cristle Collins Judd for a special message as we mark this momentous occasion. President Judd will share her insights on the Sarah Lawrence community and how families can best support their students throughout their college journey. BWCC Room B
11:00am-12:00pm | Dean’s Welcome for Students (for students)
New first year and transfer students, join the First Year Dean in our welcome address to mark the moment of transition to college!
BWCC Dining Pavilion
12:00pm-2:30pm | Lunch (for students and families)
Join us for lunch in one of our on-campus dining venues. Both dining halls will feature a special opening day lunch buffet, so feel free to choose either location. BWCC Dining Pavilion and Bates Dining Hall
12:00pm-2:00pm | Resource Fair (for students and families)
Campus offices will be present to meet with families, answer questions and share resources. Participating offices will include the First-Year Experience, Library, Learning Commons, Student Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Health & Wellness, Campus Safety, Community Partnerships, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, Career Services, Food Services, and more!
Bates Faculty/Staff Dining Room
2:15pm-2:45pm | New Transfer Student Welcome (for students only)
Come meet other new transfer students and hear from resources including Gryphon Guides, the First-Year Experience Team, and Student Involvement and Leadership. This meeting is mandatory for all new transfer students.

Orientation for Students
4:30pm-6:00pm | College Opening and Banner Signing (for students only)
President Judd will welcome all entering students with words of wisdom, inspiration and encouragement before officially opening the college. Join the Dean of Studies, Student Life and Residential Life staff for a big Sarah Lawrence welcome! Hear about what to expect from Orientation Weekend and meet a bunch of great resources! Then, sign the Class of 2028 banner (an annual tradition) and get to know other students in the Class of 2028!
6:00pm-7:00pm | Dinner with Gryphon Guides & Orientation Cohorts (for students only)
Meet your Gryphon Guide in the BWCC atrium after signing the banner, and join them for dinner to get to know the cohort you’ll be spending orientation with. Gryphon Guides may go over the orientation schedule, lead ice breakers, or chat with their cohorts.
7:30pm-8:45pm | Floor Meetings with RAs (for students only)
Your RA will let you know where you’ll be meeting. Students will meet with their RAs and other residential living community members while learning community guidelines, expectations and supports in place.
9pm + | Social Event Drag Bingo
Whether you're a bingo pro or have never played before, this event is the perfect way to meet fellow first-years while enjoying an evening of inclusive fun and community celebration. Fun and fierce entertainment guaranteed!
Opening Day Logistics
We look forward to welcoming you on August 27 during campus move-in for first year and entering new undergraduate students. Please read the following instructions carefully, as we will be welcoming over 450 new students and their families.
What to expect:
You will receive an email from Residential Life with a subject title of “Move-in Information” by or before August 5. In the email you will learn the following information:
- You will be advised of your move-in time.
- On move-in day you will receive an Unloading Zone Pass at check-in for your vehicle to place on your dashboard during move-in.
- You will have 10 minutes to unload your vehicle at a designated location according to your respective residence hall.
- The driver of your vehicle must remain in the vehicle and cannot leave their vehicle unattended at any time during move-in. Green Team members (student volunteers) will help you unload your vehicle onto a designated location in front of your residence hall. After items are offloaded, you will be instructed to park in one of the lots on campus. After parking your vehicle in a designated lot, you can join your student in their residence hall to help with their move in.
- If you arrive earlier than your designated move-in time, you will be redirected to a parking lot until your designated move-in time.
- If you arrive later than your designated move-in time, you will be redirected to return to move-in at late check-in time determined on the day-of move-in.
- If, for some reason, you are unable to make your day-of move-in time, please advise Residential Life, via email, at the following address as soon as possible: reslife@sarahlawrence.edu
