George B. Adams Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in honor of George B. Adams by trustees and other colleagues on the occasion of his retirement as chairman of the Board of Trustees, 1987 to 1991.

LeBurta Gates Atherton Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship to enhance students’ understanding of the world. Restricted to students from the state of Hawaii. The fund was established in 1999 by LeBurta Gates Atherton ’39.

Helen Brinkley Bainbridge Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established through a bequest from Helen Brinkley Bainbridge ’34 to assist an entering first-year student whose academic and extracurricular record demonstrates superior overall performance and a genuine concern for the welfare of others.

The Nancy E. Baker PhD Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship stablished in 2015 by Simone Otus Coxe ’81 to honor her professor Nancy E. Baker PhD.

Antonio and Helen Barolini Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by a longtime friend, employee, and library patron of the College and parent of two graduates.

Caroline Lackman Bauer Scholarship
An endowed fund established through a bequest by Anne Berry Lackman to celebrate the life of her daughter Caroline Lackman Bauer ’80. The scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding students who have completed two or more years of study at Sarah Lawrence and who, owing to changed financial circumstances, would be unable to complete the educational program without assistance, with preference given to students aspiring to enter the helping professions.

Oscar Bodansky Scholarship Fund
Established by Barbara Biber Bodansky in memory of her husband, distinguished biochemist, physician, and the chairman of the Department of Biochemistry of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Kermit Breiseth Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by former students of Mr. Breiseth, members of the faculty, friends, and family.

Mary Griggs Burke Endowed Presidential Scholarship
An endowed fund established in 2012 honoring the close relationship between Mary Griggs Burke, Honorary President of the Mary Livingston Griggs and Mary Griggs Burke Foundation, and Sarah Lawrence College.

Gary Burnley Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in recognition of the artistry and teaching of Gary Burnley, and of all visual artists who pursue their art in the public interest, and in recognition of the importance of the Center for Continuing Education. This scholarship will be awarded to a third- or fourth-year student who has demonstrated promise and a commitment to the visual arts in the service of the public.

Jennifer Caldwell and John H. N. Fisher Endowed Presidential Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2012, the income from which will fund scholarships for academically top-ranked students and provide them with an educational experience that will equip them with the skills to make a positive and meaningful impact on the world.

Janet and Nicholas Ciriello Endowed Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Janet and Nicholas Ciriello in 2015 to support a Sarah Lawrence student with financial need.

Geraldine Putman Clark Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 1992 in memory of Geraldine Putman Clark ’45 by her husband, Henry B. Clark, to aid an outstanding junior in the studio arts program.

Jane Cooper Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established to honor Jane Cooper on her retirement after 37 years on the writing/literature faculty. Income from this fund is to be used to assist a writing student.

Barbara Wallace Cornwall Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Cornwall. Income from this fund is to be used to make it possible for a student from a less-advantaged background to study at Sarah Lawrence.

John and Emily Corry Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2008 to recognize Sarah Lawrence College’s distinctive mode of education and its efforts to recruit and retain an economically diverse student body and to support scholarships for students with financial need.

The Nancy M. Daly Scholarship Fund
Established in 2016 by Krishna Atkinson Daly ’98 and her husband Robert Daly, Jr. Named in honor of Bob’s mother, a widely respected children's advocate, philanthropist, and arts leader, it provides financial aid to a minority student with financial need.

Harle Adair Dammann Writing Scholarship Fund
A fund established by Kenneth and Harle Montgomery in memory of Harle Adair Dammann ’72, traveler, writer, dreamer. The written word was her joy, and she would rejoice to know that she is helping future writers achieve their dreams at Sarah Lawrence.

Mary Miller Davidoff Scholarship Fund
A fund established in memory of Mary Miller Davidoff ’53 by her family and friends. This award is given to a student of merit with outstanding personal qualities.

Gaylord Donnelley Family Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by his family to honor Gaylord Donnelley, trustee and honorary trustee of the College from 1965 until his death in 1992.

Gaylord Donnelley Family Scholarship for Social Responsibility
A fund established to provide financial aid to undergraduate students in financial need who demonstrate a marked degree of social responsibility.

Gaylord Donnelley Family Science Scholarship
A fund to provide financial aid for undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional potential in the sciences, with particular emphasis on environmental science.

Elinor Dubin Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship fund established by Dr. Harry E. Dubin and family in memory of Elinor Dubin ’52.

Vicki Eaton Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in memory of Vicki Eaton ’76. Preference in awarding this aid will be given to students with severe physical disabilities.

The Erdman Family Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship provided by the Erdman Family in recognition of the long and meaningful relationship it has enjoyed with Sarah Lawrence and especially with its students and alumni from the state of Hawaii.

Stewart Fisher Memorial Scholarship
An endowed fund established in memory of Stewart Fisher ’01. Given to students from the Center for Continuing Education.

The David Fontana Memorial Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2014 by Marian Goldstein Fontana ’89 in honor of her husband David Fontana, a firefighter who died with his company, Squad 1 in Brooklyn, at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. David held a fine arts degree in sculpture, and in an earlier part of his life worked as a set designer for Sarah Lawrence, to be close to Marian while she pursued her education at Sarah Lawrence.

The Gennet Family Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2012 to support an undergraduate student with high financial need.

Mary Gilbert Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2007 by Mary Gilbert ’62 in recognition of the College’s distinctive mode of education and its efforts to recruit and retain an economically diverse student body. The fund supports a student with the highest degree of financial need.

Carol Graham Stewart Memorial Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in honor of Carol Graham Stewart by her daughters Alison Stewart and Lisa Stewart Crisp. The Fund will award scholarships to students with demonstrated financial need who are studying the sciences, with priority given to African American students.

The Leo Greenland Endowed Scholarship in Music
An endowed fund established in 2016 by Seth and Susan Greenland, parents of Gabriel Greenland ’16, together with Seth’s brother Andrew Greenland. The scholarship, named in honor of Gabriel’s grandfather, will support Sarah Lawrence music students with financial need.

Mary Livingston Griggs and Mary Griggs Burke Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund to aid outstanding students who have completed two or more years of study at Sarah Lawrence and, owing to changed financial circumstances, would be unable to complete their educational program without financial assistance. The fund bears the names of Mary Griggs Burke ’38, honorary trustee of the College, and her mother.

Sarah and Geoffrey Gund Endowed Presidential Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2012, the income from which will fund scholarships for academically top-ranked students and provide them with an educational experience that will equip them with the skills to make a positive and meaningful impact on the world.

The Allan Gurganus Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Arthur and Theodora Edelman in recognition of Allan Gurganus and his years of creative teaching at Sarah Lawrence College. Awards shall be made to students who have demonstrated academic excellence, with preference given to students with extraordinary ability in writing.

Edith Hale Harkness Scholarship for Creative Writing
An endowed fund established in 2003 by the daughter of Edith Hale Harkness. The scholarship is awarded to an incoming student who demonstrates both unusual ability in creative writing and financial need. This student will retain the scholarship until graduation, provided he or she continues to demonstrate financial need and remains in good academic standing.

Edward Harkness Fund
An endowed scholarship established by Edward S. Harkness.

Joan Harrison Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 1993 by alumni and friends of the Center for Continuing Education to honor Joan Harrison, former associate dean of the College. Income from the fund benefits a CCE student who embodies Joan Harrison’s qualities of determination, caring, and commitment.

Max Hart Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2000 through a bequest from Max A. Hart, husband of Florence Straus Hart ’44, in recognition of his support for Sarah Lawrence College and its need for student financial aid.

Hawaii Scholarship Fund
In recognition of the historic ties between Sarah Lawrence and Hawaii, this endowed scholarship will be awarded with preference for students from the state of Hawaii.

Priscilla Finn Hawkins Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2004 by family, friends, and colleagues of Priscilla Hawkins, this fund seeks to honor and memorialize Priscilla’s more than 30 years of outstanding service and commitment to Sarah Lawrence. This endowed scholarship will benefit one of the College’s neediest students as a fitting testament to Priscilla’s sense of compassion and equity and, above all, her deep understanding of and devotion to Sarah Lawrence and its students.

William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship
A fund established by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation to provide aid to students from traditionally underrepresented populations.

Meridith A. Helton Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship fund established in 2002 in memory of Meridith A. Helton ’97 by her family and friends, this fund provides aid to a returning student who demonstrates financial need and a commitment to social justice. Preference shall be given to students of women’s history or labor history.

The Horncrest Endowed Diversity Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in 2010 by an anonymous alumna and her husband in recognition of the importance of diversity to the Sarah Lawrence community and the world at large. The fund will support scholarships for students with financial need, with preference given to African American students.

The Horowitz & Levy Endowed Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship fund established in 2015 by Gregg M. Horowitz ’80 and Ellen S. Levy to support a student with financial need in his or her first year of study, with preference given to a first-generation student from the Detroit metro area.

The Chauncey and Katharine Howe Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Chauncey and Katharine Von Sinderen Howe ’37.

Alice Stone Ilchman Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established to honor Alice Stone Ilchman’s tenure as president of the College and to thank her for her support of the College’s adult students. Preference in the award of scholarships generated by this fund is given to students from the Center for Continuing Education.

Andrea Berger Kalodner Trust Fund
An endowed fund established by Raoul Berger in memory of his daughter, Andrea Berger Kalodner ’72. Income from the fund is to be used to aid an outstanding student who has completed two or more years of study at Sarah Lawrence College but who, owing to changed financial circumstances, would otherwise be unable to complete her or his education at the College. Recipients are selected by the president and members of the faculty and are designated as Andrea Berger Kalodner Scholars.

Frank M. Katz Scholarship Fund for Architecture and Visual Arts
An endowed fund established by former trustee Berelle Katz Samuel ’41 in memory of her father, Frank M. Katz. Income from the fund will benefit students with interest in architecture and visual arts.

Jean Goldschmidt Kempton Fund for Young Writers
An endowed fund established as a permanent memorial to Jean Goldschmidt Kempton ’67 to encourage creative writing in the fields of fiction, poetry, drama, and light verse.

Laurie B. Loevsky Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Louis Loevsky, his friends, and colleagues in memory of his daughter, Laurie Loevsky ’83.

Virginia Speyer Loewenheim Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Harold A. Loewenheim, husband of the late Virginia Speyer ’35, and other members of her family.

Helen Lynd and Henry Ladd Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Frances Holter Vicario ’34 in honor of former faculty members Helen Lynd and Henry Ladd.

Helen Lynd Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by former students and friends of Helen Merrell Lynd, faculty member from the opening of the College in 1928 until 1964. Grants are awarded each year to entering first-year students who demonstrate the qualities of intellectual curiosity and creativity that characterized the teaching of Helen Lynd, with support to continue for the full term of their study at the College.

The Memorial Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund, established in 2000, which provides a way for any member of the Sarah Lawrence community to be commemorated in perpetuity. The income from this fund supports financial aid for an undergraduate student.

Martha Rockwell Millett Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established through a bequest of Martha Millett ’47, a dedicated alumna and former trustee of the College.

Mary Milligan Scholarship Fund
An endowed scholarship fund established by family and friends in memory of Mary Milligan, beloved secretary of the College from 1929-1971.

Minnesota Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by alumni from Minnesota to provide aid to students with financial need and permanent residency in the state of Minnesota.

Ivan and Georgina Nagy Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Myra Donnelley ’79, Debbie Donnelley ’84, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Donnelley in memory of Ivan Nagy, member of the sociology faculty, and his wife, Georgina, to benefit students who combine artistic talent with intellectual commitment in an effort to further human communication and especially to aid students with a concentration in the visual and performing arts.

The Sarah H. W. Nelson Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2006 by John M. Nelson and Mary W. Nelson in honor of their daughter. The fund provides scholarship support for students who have a demonstrated need for financial aid and a keen interest in creative writing.

John W. Nields Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by family, colleagues, and former students of John Nields, who taught legal studies at the College from 1966 until 1980. An award is made each year to aid a junior or senior interested in pursuing a career in public service or law.

Margaret V. Noone Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established through a bequest of Margaret V. Noone ’38 to aid one or more students demonstrating merit in the fine arts.

Grace Paley Scholarship
An endowed fund established by Allan Gurganus ’72, students, and friends in honor of distinguished writer and teacher Grace Paley. Awarded to undergraduate writing students.

The William Park and James Zito Scholarship Fund in Literature
An endowed fund established by literature faculty member Daniel Kaiser upon his retirement in 2015. Named in honor of his colleagues William J. Park III, faculty emeritus (1962-2000), and James Zito, faculty (1964-1981), the scholarship will support students with financial need who excel in the study of literature.

The Pechter Foundation Scholarship Fund
Established in 2009 by the Pechter Foundation, this scholarship will be awarded to a returning student with financial need who is a citizen of the United States of America.

Becky Perces Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in memory of Becky Perces ’86 by her family, teachers, and friends. The income is to be awarded each year to one or more students whose ideas or lives reflect an unusual sensitivity to the concerns of world peace and social justice and who require financial assistance to attend Sarah Lawrence College.

The Charlotte A. Price and Peter J. Price Scholarship
An endowed fund established in 2014 by Economics faculty member emerita Charlotte A. Price to support Sarah Lawrence students.

Esther Raushenbush Scholarship Fund
Established by an alumna to honor a distinguished teacher, dean, and president of Sarah Lawrence and to encourage and support students who wish to pursue their education through the Center for Continuing Education.

Paul T. Rennell Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by the family of Paul T. Rennell, husband of Nancy May Rennell Field ’39 and father of Gretchen Rennell ’69 and Nancy (Sally) Zeckhauser. An award is made each year to a student whose interest is in the field of international relations.

Melissa Richter Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Susan Barnes Bogdan, MS ’77 in memory of Melissa Richter, a former administrator of the College. The fund provides aid to students enrolled in the Center for Continuing Education whose admission criteria are not typical, but whose other qualities indicate that the special aspects of a Sarah Lawrence education will have valuable impact and that the recipients will become important contributors to campus intellectual life.

Eugenie and Benjamin Robinson Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by family, friends, and colleagues in honor of Eugenie Robinson ’66 and Benjamin Robinson to provide scholarship assistance to students at the Center for Continuing Education.

Meredith Fonda Russell Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Sarah Schoentgen in memory of her daughter, Meredith Fonda Russell, to assist a student with financial need who demonstrates a zest for exploring distant places and different cultures and a deep-seated concern for others.

Anne Turid Sato Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and family in memory of Anne Turid Sato ’68, a woman with deep commitment to social justice. This endowed scholarship will be awarded with preference to women attending the College from overseas.

Robert and Elizabeth Saudek Scholarship in the Performing Arts
A fund to encourage and support first-year students at Sarah Lawrence College who demonstrate exceptional promise in the performing arts and to celebrate the life of Robert Saudek, whose career was dedicated to the development and presentation of the performing arts on television.

Alice Boughton Schaffner Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by a bequest of Mrs. Schaffner to assist undergraduates who, by reason of social or geographical barriers, are handicapped in pursuing their education.

Scholarship for the Environment
A fund established by an alumna to aid a junior or senior with an interest in the pursuit of ecology and/or the environment as an academic, professional, or personal endeavor.

Sara Lee Schupf Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund to assist students at the Center for Continuing Education. Preference is given to students with a strong interest in science.

Margaret Shepherd Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund to aid undergraduate students, established by Margaret Shepherd ’69 as an expression of support and encouragement for future generations.

Social Responsibility Scholarship Fund
A fund awarding scholarships to students in financial need who have demonstrated a marked degree of social responsibility and commitment to the solution of urgent societal concerns.

Students for Students Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Sarah Lawrence students. The principal grows annually with money raised by current students through various student-sponsored events on campus.

Jerome Swinford Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by Victoria Starr Pyle ’30 in memory of Jerome Swinford, a member of the music faculty and head of the voice department from the opening of the College in 1928 until his retirement in 1962.

Lorlee Shark Tenenbaum Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established by her husband and children to honor Lorlee Shark Tenenbaum ’57 on the occasion of her retirement from the Board of Trustees in May 1988.

The Meyer and LaBelle Tenenbaum Scholarship Fund
In recognition of the importance of higher education for students from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, this endowed scholarship is awarded to students with demonstrated need for high financial aid, preferably from the southeastern United States.

Elizabeth Welt Trahan Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 1999 by Elizabeth Welt Trahan ’51 in gratitude for the education and assistance she received as a student at Sarah Lawrence. Income from the fund provides aid to an undergraduate student who has shown particular interest in Jewish studies.

Barbara Walters Endowed Presidential Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established in 2013, which will fund scholarships every year for two world-class students and provide them with an educational experience that will equip them with the skills necessary to make a positive and meaningful impact on the world.

Margaret Chambers Warnshuis Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established with a gift from the Margaret Chambers Warnshuis Foundation. Income from this fund is used to aid foreign students, with preference given to students from Asia and Africa who intend to return to their home countries.

Constance Warren Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund honoring Miss Warren, president of the College from 1929-1945. The award is made to one or more outstanding juniors and continues through the senior year.

The Lucinda B. Watson Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund established to honor the presidency of Alice Stone Ilchman and to support first-year students whose high school activities indicate a strong commitment to community service and social change.

The Suzanne Werner Wright Scholarship Fund
An endowed fund to honor the work of the Center for Continuing Education and the College’s commitment to adult students. Income from the fund is used to assist CCE students.

The Robert L. Zimmerman Scholarship
A scholarship established in recognition of Sarah Lawrence College’s distinctive mode of education and to honor the many accomplishments and dedication of Robert L. Zimmerman as both a teacher and a scholar. For a student entering the third or fourth year of study who exhibits the highest degree of financial need and a high likelihood of success at the College, with preference for a student with a philosophy focus. This scholarship is to be retained until graduation, provided the student continues to demonstrate financial need and remains in good academic standing.
