Sarah Lawrence College provides opportunities for an in depth experience of Chinese culture and language. Students enrolling in the CET Shanghai Program will have the opportunity to engage in an internship each semester. The program requires students to have completed one year of Chinese at the college level. These study abroad opportunities are open to Sarah Lawrence College students only.

This remarkable program introduces students to contemporary Cuba—a mix of innovative ideas, weathered facades, lavish beauty, persistent history, artistic sensitivity, and genuine friendliness. As part of a select group, students learn firsthand how and why Cuban culture has shaped—and reshaped—both the regional and international landscapes. This program is open to all students.

Sarah Lawrence students interested in studying abroad in Italy are invited to consider options in Florence through Middlebury College and Parma through Pitzer College. These study abroad opportunities are open to Sarah Lawrence College students only.

Japan

Explore the unique opportunity to study at one of two universities in Japan: Tsuda University in Tokyo, which is a women's college; and Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, which is co-ed. These study abroad opportunities are open to Sarah Lawrence College students only.

Leeds, England

Leeds, England

Study one-on-one with leading scholars at the University of Leeds, one of the largest higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. The University of Leeds has been awarded 22 National Teaching Fellowships—more than any other institution in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales. Students come from all over the UK and from over 140 different countries around the world, making Leeds a vibrant, multicultural city. This study abroad program is open to Sarah Lawrence College students only.

Lima, Peru

Lima, Peru

Sarah Lawrence students with a high level of Spanish fluency can take one core course and three electives during their semester abroad in Peru. The program’s resident coordinator, a well-known Peruvian poet, teaches the core course, which also doubles as a course in reading and composition in Spanish. It familiarizes students with Lima's cultural, historical, and social palimpsest through visits to sites that reflect 5,000 years of Peruvian history and development. This study abroad program is open to Sarah Lawrence College students only.

London Theatre Program (BADA)

London Theatre Program (BADA)

Become part of London’s great theatrical tradition as you work and study with leading actors and directors from the world of British theatre. Sponsored by Sarah Lawrence College and the British American Drama Academy (BADA), the London Theatre Program is designed for dedicated undergraduates from Sarah Lawrence and other schools who wish to study acting with intensity in this inspiring and historic setting. This program is open to all students.

Study one-on-one with leading scholars at Oxford, one of the oldest and most respected universities in the world. Oxford provides an unparalleled system of education: the pursuit of individual interests in tutorial work supervised by exceptional faculty, complemented by a broad core curriculum. This program is open to all students.

Paris, France

Paris, France

Sarah Lawrence undergraduates can enroll in small seminar courses at Reid Hall, as well as attend classes at Paris’ premier educational institutions. Each course is complemented by weekly or bi-weekly conference work sessions, during which students work individually with professors to delve deeper into course material. The program also offers visual and performing arts courses at studios and conservatories in and around Paris. This program is open to all students.

Sub-Saharan Africa

Sub-Saharan Africa

Run in collaboration with Pitzer College, this program focuses on understanding and addressing human development issues specific to the region. Coursework in psychology, history, and public policy is paired with fieldwork in community-based organizations. Students live, work, and travel to Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. This program is open to Sarah Lawrence College students only.

Summer Arts in Berlin, Germany

In this program, students engage with Berlin and its well-earned reputation as a city for the arts. They learn about modern German history through literature, dance, visual arts, architecture, and by creating their own work. In addition, the program now offers creative writing (poetry/short fiction). This program is open to all students.

Summer in Florence, Italy

Join art history faculty member Joseph Forte in exploring the major jewels and little known gems of Florence, Italy. Students will study the history and art history of Florence: the center of medieval Tuscany, the birthplace of the Renaissance, and the source of so many of the ideas that we associate with contemporary art and artists.
