Lifelong Learning

More Sarah Lawrence for more people.

Lifelong learning has always been a hallmark of a Sarah Lawrence education, rooted in the belief that curiosity, creativity, and intellectual engagement don’t belong to just one chapter of life. From our on-campus preschool to programs for teens, adults, and seniors, our lifelong learning opportunities invite people of all ages and at all stages to explore ideas, develop skills, and connect with others. Whether you’re pursuing something new or returning to a long-held interest, you’ll find a welcoming and supportive community here.

Precollege Programs

Sarah Lawrence’s precollege programs invite high school students to experience college-level learning in a supportive and collaborative environment. Through immersive workshops students explore ideas deeply, develop their voices, and engage with peers who share their curiosity. Some programs also offer opportunities to earn college credit.

Center for the Urban River

The Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB) extends Sarah Lawrence’s commitment to experiential learning into the Hudson River watershed and surrounding communities. Through environmental education programs, public events, and partnerships with local schools and organizations, CURB connects learners of all ages to the science, history, and stewardship of the river.

Extension Courses

Noncredit extension courses bring the Sarah Lawrence approach to learning to adults of all backgrounds and experience levels. Taught by current and former SLC faculty, often in small, discussion-based classes, these courses offer opportunities to explore new subjects, revisit longtime interests, and connect ideas across disciplines, no prior experience required.
