Scope and Contents note

The collection consists of subject files relating to various aspects of student life at Sarah Lawrence College. The collection covers such topics as a budget study, coeducation, convocation, dons lists, meal plans, holidays on campus, orientation, including student questionnaires, pets on campus, physical education, Note: There are several newspaper articles about the successful men’s basketball team of the late 1960s and early 1970s, students bill of rights, day students, diversity, exchange students from other colleges and international students from Russia, the controversy over the student’s loyalty oath in 1959 and 1960, the used book exchange, the travel desk, the introduction and experience of veterans on campus after World War II, weekend activities, wellness issues, such as AIDS, drug and alcohol use on campus, harassment, and sex education, and student work programs.

The folder "Events - United Nationalities Roundtables" consists of documentation, including partial transcripts, regarding seven events in 1942 and 1943 sponsored by the College to look at race and diversity in the United States. Participants included representatives from the surrounding communities and various ethnic and racial groups as well as well-known figures in the country such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Alvin Johnson, Alain Locke, and Ruth Benedict.
