Scope and Contents note

The collection consists of pamphlets, flyers, clippings, press releases, correspondence, etc. related to the various social and political protests and activism on the Sarah Lawrence College campus dating from the 1930s liquor on campus debate to the Westlands Sit-In of 1969 to the issues of the 21st century, such as AIDS and Labor protests. Most of the material revolves around larger social and political issues, yet some are specific to the Sarah Lawrence community, such as the faculty reappointment boycott in the 1970s. Box 3 contains the Harambe Flag used during the 1989 Westlands Sit-In. The collection will continue to grow as more material on current issues becomes available.
