Our volunteer efforts have the potential to impact every student by advancing specific initiatives that enrich campus life and the academic experience.

Parents Council
The Sarah Lawrence College Parents Council is a leadership group that was established to support Sarah Lawrence College in building a strong, engaged, and informed parent community. The Council also helps the College in key initiatives to move the Sarah Lawrence mission forward. A chair or co-chairs lead the Council with support from a member of the College's Advancement staff.
Members of the Parents Council demonstrate philanthropic leadership by making an annual contribution of $1,000 or more to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence. The College is grateful for the support of its parents and seeks to engage them in the College while their student attends Sarah Lawrence. The Council has a staff liaison at the College who works closely with Council leaders to strengthen the relationship between the College and all Council members. The Council meets twice each year: once in the fall during Family Weekend and again during the spring semester. The Council also hosts conference calls with select faculty and administrators so that members can learn more about important campus topics.
In addition, Council members:
- are invited to receptions and events featuring campus leaders and students
- identify and secure internship opportunities for students and offer career and networking guidance
- recruit prospective Parents Council members
- serve as College ambassadors who encourage prospective students and families
- host gatherings to welcome new parents and families to the College community
- receive regular College notifications to keep them up to date about campus happenings
- network with other Parents Council members
