From SLC to Mount Sinai: Nitika Kamath '24 Pursues Career in Neuroscience

Nitika Kamath '24 is featured in a Mount Sinai blog profile highlighting her path to a career in translational neuroscience research. Kamath credits the "pivotal research experience" she gained at Sarah Lawrence—including work in the laboratory of biology faculty member and Associate Dean Cecilia Toro—with shaping her scientific interests and preparing her for graduate study at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Kamath earned her Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Mount Sinai earlier this summer with an award for research excellence; she was also chosen as the student commencement speaker. Kamath now plans to pursue a PhD in neuroscience, with the ultimate goal of a career dedicated to investigating neurodegenerative diseases.
