Welcome, Class of 2022!

Congratulations! I'm so happy to welcome you to Sarah Lawrence College.

For the last few months, our office has done little else but read and discuss application essays, transcripts, art supplements, and recommendation letters. (At Sarah Lawrence, even the Admission Office approaches their work seminar-style: lots of discussion, lots of back and forth, lots of reading, lots of talking about reading...) So I can say with absolute authority: this year’s admitted class is one of a kind and comprises so many different and exciting perspectives, backgrounds, interests, and talents. I can’t wait for you all to get to know each other.

We’ll be updating this site frequently, so make sure to keep checking back in. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions at slcadmit@sarahlawrence.edu. I know you have some important decisions to make in the coming weeks, and the more information you have, the better. We’re happy to arrange a class or overnight visit, put you in touch with faculty or current students, and answer any questions. Just let us know.

Now, go celebrate!

Kevin McKenna
Dean of Enrollment

Information for International Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to Sarah Lawrence College! Below is information that will ensure your transition to the College is a smooth one.

Download the Application and Instructions for Form I-20, which is used to apply for a United States Student Visa. If you need F-1 status, you should fill this form out, scan it, and e-mail it to Melissa McCarter (mmccarter@sarahlawrence.edu) by May 25, 2018. When we receive your scanned Application for Form I-20 and scanned supporting documents, we will send you your I-20 Form so that you can apply for your F-1 visa.

If you are a US citizen, a dual US citizen, or a Permanent Resident of the US (green card holder), you do not need a visa to enter the US Canadian citizens do not need a student visa to enter the US, but they do need an I-20 and must follow certain procedures.

If you are currently studying at another institution in the US, you should follow the instructions on page 3 of the application and fill out the form at the back of the packet.

If you are a non-US citizen, you will probably need F-1 non-immigrant student status to study in the US You may currently be holding another type of visa (H, G, L, etc.), but may want to change to F status. It is up to you to contact our office so that we can start to make arrangements. If you are currently in F status at another school, you should contact us so that we can start the paperwork to transfer your SEVIS record.

This paperwork can take several months, so please contact us as soon as you know what your plans and needs are.

Please note that there is a US government mandated fee for international students to cover the costs of the Student and Exchange visitor Program (SEVP). You may go to fmjfee.com for more information and to learn how to pay this fee. You will need to show the payment receipt when you apply for your student visa.
