Gift Certificates

The Writing Institute is pleased to offer gift certificates in an amount of your choosing to be applied to any of our workshops or programs.

Writers of all ages can choose from our diverse curriculum of writing courses. Some of our most popular adult workshops focus on the novel, memoir, short story, and poetry. However, we dive deeper on many levels with classes on character development, plot, screenwriting, editing a book, writing query letters, and getting published. We are also very proud of our creative writing workshops for middle and high school students held throughout the school year.

Additionally, we have signature summer events and programs. We are pleased to offer our respected and well-known Publish & Promote Your Book Conference where writers learn about the paths to getting published and meet agents and editors to whom they can pitch their books. For those looking to future careers, we have a six-week Certificate in Publishing Program. Also, for writers with a bit of wanderlust, The Joe Papaleo Writers' Workshop in Cetara, Italy offers the chance to spend a week with other writers in a beautiful and inspirational setting.

Sponsorships & Donations

The Writing Institute is committed to helping writers become the writers they want to be. Many of our students have gone on to publish poetry, stories, and books in the mainstream marketplace. Our faculty set a high bar for themselves to create workshop experiences that uplift the art of writing and the skillsets of each individual writer. However, without the generous support of our donors and the alumni of Sarah Lawrence College, many writers would not be able to attend our programs. Due to such generosity, we offer The Kathryn Gurfein Writing Fellowship, as well as a variety scholarships throughout the year.

We hope you will consider supporting The Writing Institute. Please e-mail Writing Institute Director Pat Dunn to discuss how we can tailor your donation or sponsorship to fulfill your belief in the art of writing.
