Frequently Asked Questions
Are masks required on campus?
updated
At present, all faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors must wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status. The exception to this policy will be for individuals dining indoors, students in their own residence rooms/apartments, and faculty or staff in a private office. Unvaccinated individuals are also required to wear masks outside when gathering with others.
All members of the Sarah Lawrence community should feel empowered to continue masking on campus at any time should they wish to do so, and their decision should be respected.
Am I required as an employee to be vaccinated?
Yes. As shared in an email to faculty and staff on September 3, 2021, all employees of the College are required to provide proof of full vaccination , barring an approved exemption for medical or religious reasons. The College has contracted with ReturnSafe to provide a secure, HIPAA-compliant, mobile/web-based interface for vaccination reporting. Instructions on accessing ReturnSafe and recording vaccination status will be sent via email to faculty and staff. Only staff in the Human Resources office will have access to employee vaccination records.
In addition, as announced in an email on January 7, 2022, all faculty and staff must provide proof of a booster shot within two weeks of becoming eligible, based on the timeline specific to the vaccine they received.
How can I support a student who might have COVID?
Students concerned that they are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should contact the Health & Wellness Center, so if a student shares concerns with you, please encourage them to reach out to Health & Wellness.
Following an assessment by Health & Wellness, students may well ask for an opportunity to make up any missed work or class time, and we ask that you help students err on the side of caution by offering them the opportunity to make up for missing work, including missing class time. Faculty should not announce a student’s absence to a class or share any private medical information with others.
