In order to meet the demands of the College for the types of projects we do, the Office of Marketing & Communications maintains a roster of outside help, comprised of professional photographers, freelance writers, graphic designers, proofreaders, editors, and more. From time to time, based on the nature and/or timing of a project, we may suggest that one of these third-party providers is a better resource for you. Or, should you have a need for resources such as these, please contact the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications or the Director of Creative Projects for access to our contact list.
Frequently, departments across campus work on projects that include some sort of premium or giveaway. Our Director of Print and Direct Mail maintains a list of trusted premium vendors, as well as contacts in mailhouses and printing companies, and can provide more information should you need it.
Our office has also contracted third party vendors to facilitate external e-mail marketing and conducting research through targeted surveys. We maintain guidelines on how to get started with these tools, giving on-campus departments the opportunity to be self-sufficient in these areas. Please note, the guidelines below are housed on MySLC; login is required for access.
- E-Mail Marketing
We have contracted with What Counts for e-mail marketing projects, which are done using their Publicaster tool. A client services manager is at our disposal for questions or issues, and What Counts employs a creative services team that may also be used (for a fee) if necessary. Please note: Use of Publicaster for e-mails is for external use only; e-mails to faculty, staff, or students are done through the IT office.

For online surveys, the College uses SurveyMonkey, an easy-to-use online tool. SurveyMonkey may be used to create surveys for both external and internal audiences. SurveyMonkey is a self-service tool, meaning the Office of Marketing & Communications does not prepare or distribute surveys on behalf of other departments. However, to maintain a consistency in the quality and frequency of surveys being sent out, our office does need to be informed when a SurveyMonkey is being created. To start using this tool, please contact the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, who will tell you how to proceed.
