As reported in The New York Times and The Guardian, Amanda Foreman ’91 chaired the judging panel that awarded the 2016 Man Booker Prize to an American for the first time, saying of author Paul Beatty’s novel, The Sellout: “Fiction should not be comfortable. The truth is rarely pretty and this is a book that nails the reader to the cross with cheerful abandon…that is why the novel works.” (The Guardian)
