Jeff Fager, Executive Producer of the television news magazine 60 Minutes, will speak at Sarah Lawrence College on Tuesday, November 14, following the release of his book, Fifty Years of 60 Minutes: The Inside Story of Television’s Most Influential News Broadcast, released this month. Fager’s talk, which will be open to questions from the audience, and likely to include a discussion of “fake” news and first amendment issues, will be held in the Donnelley Theatre in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center at 5:15 p.m. This event is part of the inaugural year series exploring democracy and education.

Fifty Years of 60 Minutes: The Inside Story of Television’s Most Influential News Broadcast, is a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the program’s five-decade history of reporting and news journalism since its debut in 1968. Fager tracks groundbreaking investigative journalism and landmark interviews through the history of 60 Minutes, detailing the drama that has made the program’s success possible.

"For five decades, 60 Minutes has been a standard-bearer of journalism, said Marek Fuchs, Ellen Kingsley Hirschfeld Chair in Writing at Sarah Lawrence College and executive director, The Journalism and Justice Institute. "In this time of fraught public discourse, there are few more important to hear from than Jeff Fager."

Jeff Fager is a former Chairman of CBS News and has had a career dedicated to journalism and investigative storytelling. He has been awarded the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism by USLA and the Paul White Award by the Radio Television Digital News Association. 60 Minutes has been awarded a Golden Globe, multiple Emmys, and has been hailed by The New York Times as “one of the most esteemed news television magazines on American television.”
