Abrams discussed his time at Sarah Lawrence and his life and work with Westchester Magazine: "My many friendships from Sarah Lawrence are luckily very much in effect today, but also a relationship to work ethic and community and feeling like this was the place where, for the first time, I was able to believe that I could do the thing in life that I wanted to do since I was a kid," said Abrams.

Abrams also commented in Westchester Wag: “Sarah Lawrence, for someone who grew up in L.A. and never went to private school, was a different world, a far more intimate educational experience. The small size of the classes and the quality of the teachers placed an enormous emphasis on following your passion. Sarah Lawrence was the first time I felt I was a writer.”
