The British novelist Henry Green once said narrative prose should be "a gathering web of insinuations". In this talk, David Ryan will discuss ways of writing that navigate the margin of an idea rather than anything resembling its center—how the fluid, circuitous, evasive, and unstable route can produce viscerally charged work.
David Ryan's recent work has appeared in The Kenyon Review, Conjunctions, Bellevue Literary Journal, Epiphany, and The Southampton Review, and is forthcoming in Diagram and The Harvard Review. He is the author of the story collection Animals in Motion (Roundabout Press) and Malcolm Lowry's Under the Volcano: Bookmarked (Ig Publishing). There's more about him at davidwryan.com.
