Fungal pathogens are thought to play a vital role in maintaining diverse plant communities. Yet these hidden "pathogen benefits" could be disrupted when a continuous landscape is broken into smaller and smaller fragments. In this talk, Hersh will discuss the biotic and abiotic factors that may lead to landscape interfering with the plant-fungal interactions that maintain plant diversity.
