William Miles, Professor of Political Science at Northeastern University, began his career trajectory as a Peace Corps volunteer in Niger. He received his AB From Vassar College and his MALD and PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He is the recipient of many awards including a Fulbright Scholarship. He is the author of over 10 scholarly books including Political Islam in West Africa, My African Horse Problem, and most recently, Scars of Partition. Postvolonial Legacies in French and British Borderlands. He frequently consults for USAID, the State Department, and other organizations on questions of counterterrorism and development.
