A seminar with Sally Marik, Rockefeller University, Sarah Lawrence College.
The adult brain retains the ability to modify its neural circuits throughout life. New experiences induce rewiring of select circuits via axonal growth and pruning. Marik will share her recent research of the molecular mechanisms of axonal pruning. This research demonstrates the physiological role for APP, which differs from its known pathological role in the destruction of neural circuits in Alzheimer’s disease.
