Liz Page Stitzel Wins Prestigious Academic Awards

Senior Liz Page Stitzel has been honored with the 2009 IHSA Senior Athletic Academic Achievement Award. This is the third time in four years that a student from Sarah Lawrence has won the award. Sarah Kaufmann won in 2006 and Emma Mullaney in 2007. The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association recognizes graduating seniors that have achieved excellence with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher while participating on a I.H.S.A. team. In addition, Stitzel won a cash prize of $500 for writing the winning essay in a contest open to those who qualify for the first award.

The Sarah Lawrence College senior and captain of the College’s Equestrian team, Stitzel has been a member of the Equestrian team for four years and has served as captain for three. She was the recipient of the Athletic Department’s Newcomer of the Year Award her first year in 2006, and was honored as the College’s Athlete of the Year in 2007.

“Liz has been an outstanding representative of the College and its athletic program,” said Rakoczy.
