Why I Give

then Indulged his love of cooking in his Slonim Woods kitchen; worked as an apprentice pastry chef at the ‘21’ Club in NYC

now Started his own company called Kermit’s Brownies (He can bake 1,200 in one day.)

then Loved design and hands-on work; studied lighting design for theatre

now Teaches wood-turning classes at the San Francisco Techshop

then Spent his evenings running from theatre perform-ances to poetry readings on campus

now Spends Friday nights running after his baby daughter

then Used words and light to create poetry and theatre

now Uses chocolate, heat, and time to create brownies and lasting relationships (He met his wife through his brownies.)

then Studied poetry with Thomas Lux and Cornelius Eady, and literature with Ilja Wachs

now Still drops in on Wachs to say hello, and sees Eady at readings in New York

then Gave $100 to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence in 2000

now Gave $1,500 to FSL this summer
