The William & Sarah Lawrence Society

The William & Sarah Lawrence Society honors the alumni and friends who have provided for the future of the college through their intended bequests, beneficiary designations, and life-income gifts. The society is named for the founder of the college, William Van Duzer Lawrence, and his wife, Sarah Bates Lawrence, after whom the college was named, to emphasize the foundation these gifts provide in maintaining the tradition of excellence in education.

Members of the William & Sarah Lawrence Society enjoy a unique status at Sarah Lawrence. They are invited to special college events on campus and around the country, and are recognized, with permission, in the honor roll of the William & Sarah Lawrence Society membership. Members also receive the William & Sarah Lawrence Society "Infinity Symbol," a pin representing the enduring bond forged by membership.

Membership in the William & Sarah Lawrence Society is open to those who inform the college of a bequest provision in their will or living trust, who name the college as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy, or who create a life income gift or other gift plan to benefit Sarah Lawrence. Members are permanently recognized and honored for helping to guarantee a Sarah Lawrence education to new generations of promising students.
