Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Reporting

Final report as of October 10, 2020 

  1. Sarah Lawrence College has signed and returned to the United States Department of Education a Certification and Agreement that the College will use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Act to provide emergency financial aid grants to students.
  2. Sarah Lawrence College has received $472,228 from the United States Department of Education pursuant to our Certification and Agreement for emergency financial aid grants to students.
  3. As of October 7, 2020, Sarah Lawrence College has distributed $472,228 to students under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
  4. Sarah Lawrence College estimates that 1,345 students are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and are thus eligible to receive emergency financial aid grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. 
  5. As of October 7, 2020, Sarah Lawrence College has distributed emergency financial aid grants to 834 students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
  6. The following tiers representing a student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) were used to determine the grant amount that could be distributed to a student. Students must verify that they incurred additional travel, technology, room, board, or other educational costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • Tier 1 EFC = $0–$10,000, $575–$1200 grant
    • Tier 2 EFC = $10,001–$30,000, $375–$800 grant
    • Tier 3 EFC > $30,001, $200–$425 grant
