Human Development in Sub-Saharan Africa
Accommodations will vary according to the site. All meals are provided except in Blantyre, where students may be responsible for some lunches.
Kitongo, Mwanza Region, Tanzania
Students will be living on the JBFC campus in a guest house that looks out onto Lake Victoria. Students share a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The bedrooms have simple bunk beds, each with a mosquito net. Some meals will be provided in the guest house, while others will be shared with other members of the community in the main dining room. Students will be responsible for helping to cook some of these meals. There is also an Italian restaurant on campus that students are welcome to frequent on weekends (regular menu prices apply).
Students will be living at Doogles Lodge, a well known local and tourist hangout with good food and good conversation. It is located next to a major bus terminal and within walking distance of the city center.
Matobo Hills, Zimbabwe
Students will be living in shared rooms on the Morning Start campus, located in the eastern Matobo Hills close to the Matobo National Park, a World Heritage Site. The campus includes shared bathrooms with solar showers, two shared living rooms, a shared dining area and kitchen (meals will be provided), a shared outdoor barbecue area, and two shared natural rock swimming areas. Students may be asked to help prepare some meals.
